Work-Life Recharge 10 – Go Small to Get Going!

Hi there. It’s Michelle Cederberg with Your Weekly Work-Life Recharge. This week is an opportunity for you to check in with the goals and plans you set for yourself earlier this year. How are they coming?

We’re a couple of months in to the year, and at this point I’m guessing your enthusiasm for doing the freakin work (#DTFW) is going one of two ways. If things are going well, celebrate your stick-to-it-iveness and keep doing what you’re doing! You. ROCK.

If things aren’t going so well and you need to reboot, there’s still time. Here’s a tip to get you moving again: GO SMALL!

A few years ago I wrote a book called Energy Now! Small Steps to an Energetic Life that’s all about boosting energy – mind, body and spirit, through a small-steps approach that really works. And I want to remind you, that whatever goal you’re working toward, small steps matter just as much as the big ones…in fact they’re the key to success over time.

You may think you don’t have time…but you do. You just have to think different.

If you’ve got a inflexibly full schedule, change may seem impossible, but not if you go small.

If you’re strapped for time OR energy, then start small with what you have available right now (even if it’s not very much)…  and build from there. I would rather you make small, daily steps now toward your goal, than a great big step every few weeks should the time and energy suddenly materialize (how often does that happen…really?)

Just remind yourself that any amount of doing is better than hours of thinking about it. If motivation is low and you need a kick in the aspirations, GO SMALL to get going.

Momentum is a powerful motivator, and it won’t take much to get that ball rolling again… So reconnect with your goal right now, get over GOING BIG, and take a small step today to move forward. And then do it again tomorrow. And the day after that.
